Here at Forge Motorsport we have spent years developing and working with the Hyundai N platforms and we produce a vast array of performance hardware to improve efficiency and performance alike. However to extract the full potential of these products it is essential to combine performance enhancing products customised performance software!
And with the introduction of the second generation Hyundai I30N we save the addition of there DCT gearbox, a gearbox which works very well indeed! However since we have pushed the envelope with ECU tuning to extract huge gains in power and more importantly torque, we soon found the Hyundai’s DCT limitations. Clutch slip is apparent when achieving over 500Nm of torque, so the Forge development team have worked with industry leading software engineers to develop new TCU software for the Hyundai.
WHAT IS A TCU?
Vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions are normally fitted with a TCU (Transmission Control Unit. This control unit manages all aspects of the transmission functionality i.e. gear shift and torque limitations. The TCU works together with the engines ECU by sending and receiving real time data across the vehicles network system, so when tuning the engines ECU for more performance it is recommended to have the TCU parameters changed at the same time. This will then ensure both control units continue to work in harmony and fully optimize the performance and drivability of the vehicle.

The number of the parameters that can be changed is dependent on the application, however here are some of the key benefits you will gain with this TCU upgrade:
- Shift Speed – Increasing the speed in which the gearbox changes gear.
- Torque Limiters – Increasing the torque limiters ensures the transmission cannot limit the performance of the engine, we have now increased this in all gears.
- Hydraulic Pressure – Increasing the hydraulic pressure can increase clutch clamping pressure to prevent clutch slip on highly tuned vehicle. Clamping pressure increased (25 bar) (Stock = 23 bar)
- Shift points – Changing the RPM limiter of the engine is often not possible without modifying the TCU software, the shift RPM has now been raised in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears
- Full manual mode - activation via paddles switched on

This software is essential for stage 2 tuned vehicles, especially with our High Torque Stage 2 software which was developed together with our TCU software. The ability to push the boundaries of the 2.0 T-GDI engine with this TCU software are vast and this really does make for a complete impressive package.
The other key feature of this software is the ‘’no compromise in drivability’’, it really does drive like a stock vehicle. There is no jerkiness from hard shifts, no harshness at all, which is one of the key benefits.
This software takes 2 hours to install onto your vehicle, and we need the vehicle at Forge Motorsports Gloucester HQ.

Warranty
Warranty Infomation
All Forge Motorsport products come with a limited lifetime warranty. All warranty claims must be accompanied by the original proof of purchase to enable us to help you. Failure to supply this proof will result in your claim or enquiry being denied.
For further information, please call our customer service team on +44(0)1452 380999 or email info@forgemotorsport.co.uk.
Do not use aggressive (acidic) car cleaning products, particularly traffic film remover solutions or shampoos to clean your intercooler, radiator or oil cooler. The use of these products can damage Forge Motorsport cooling systems and invalidate your warranty. These are often found at car washes. A light, warm, soapy solution (free of harsh acidic cleaning compounds) should be used to clean you cooler and thoroughly rinsed away. We recommend that you should inspect your product on a regular basis for bent and/or crushed fins. Any bent fins should be carefully straightened to allow ambient air to pass through the core face. At the time of installing your Forge radiator, an approved coolant must be used and added to the coolant system. Be sure you never mix coolant and always use distilled water.
